Maarten De Laet

Maarten De Laet (°1996) is a contemporary Belgian visual artist living and working in West Flanders. His work spans multiple disciplines, from painting and ceramics to digital 3D techniques, through which he creates his own unique visual world.

De Laet constructs dreamlike universes where fictional characters and environments take center stage. His work draws on memories, imagination, and personal associations, balancing on the boundary between reality and fantasy. By combining traditional techniques with modern media such as 3D printing, he aims to capture experiences and moments that might otherwise be lost.

His oeuvre is playful and narrative, yet also invites reflection on temporality, identity, and how we assign meaning to what we see. The figures and sculptures he presents are often surreal, encouraging the viewer to briefly escape into another, poetic reality.
