Roger Raveel

Roger Raveel (1921–2013) was an influential Belgian artist with a unique place in modern art. He was known for his recognizable yet surprising visual language, in which everyday life plays a central role.

In his paintings and objects, Raveel combined ordinary elements such as walls, windows, and figures with abstract forms and white planes. In doing so, he invited viewers to look differently at reality and to reflect on perception and space.

Raveel’s work is clear, playful, and at the same time profound. He deliberately blurred the boundary between art and life and raised questions about how we experience our surroundings.
